Support

Ensure a supportive, aligned and visible sponsorship from the CEO and his/her Executive Leadership Team

SMARTS

Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely and Stretched

Agree on 'SMARTS' (1) objectives to ensure all key stakeholders acknowledge and support them

Outline Roles

Clearly outline roles and responsibilities (particularly for new positions), so that all stakeholders recognise their accountabilities and contribution to achieve the 

objectives

Enforce Performance

Enforce a candid, respectful, performance driven and deadline-oriented leadership style to address both expectations and concerns

Passion and Resilience

Acting with professionalism and accountability is not enough to achieve superior performance: passion, resilience, perseverance and commitment are also essential

Stimulate learning

Stimulate a continuous learning mind-set together with an enjoyable & playful environment to ensure high pressure expectations do not result in burn-outs and blaming culture 

Proper governance

Develop a proper governance to track performance and promptly react to any gap or delay. Frequent and open communication both top-down but also bottom-up (feedback) between the steering committee, management and stakeholders is essential

Encourage improvement

Encourage a Kaizen (continuous improvement), curious and innovative culture by shaking the status quo: even namely, world-class performance can be further improved

Apply Change Management

Apply change management best practices (e.g. stakeholders analysis) to identify, empower, motivate and coach teams but also remove resistance, which shall be opposed vigorously

Identify Sustainable Solutions

Identify solutions that are sustainable and financially sound through proper teamwork and constructive debate so to reduce uncertainties and secure a stronger buy-in.

Welcome Conversations

Welcome emotional intelligence  particularly from experienced people, that may anticipate issues and/or opportunities not yet rationalised, but critical to deliver success

Attention to Culture

Pay attention to the company culture and values and act accordingly; embrace diversity; be sensitive to interpersonal matters that may impact performance and well-being and take into account diverse stakeholders’ priorities when agreeing on deadlines and objectives

Frequent communication

Communicate the vision to ensure the organization understands how to contribute to achieve the related objectives at any level

Celebrate success and re-energize

Ensure the teams have time to celebrate the achievements of key milestone and/or problem resolutions and recharge themselves particularly in very demanding and uncertain conditions
